Pittsburg Woman's Handmade Gifts For Family Members Stolen By Modern-Day Grinch
PITTSBURG (CBS SF) -- A Pittsburg woman's handmade Christmas gifts for her grandchildren were stolen by a modern-day Grinch.
Evelyn Arms had been working on the handmade slippers for her 17 family members since June before burglars broke in Sunday through the garage.
They took jewelry, cash, and the wrapped presents under the tree.
"I came in here and all my slippers were gone. That hit me, and I didn't pay attention to anything else," Evelyn told KPIX 5.
Each pair of the handmade slippers take 16-hours to knit.
"I think that's what's so upsetting. She always puts in so much hard work and love into the items she makes," Evelyn's daughter-in-law Letha Arms said.
Despite the loss, Evelyn found a way to laugh off the loss. "I just would love to have seen the look on their face when they opened them up and saw that. Slippers!?"
Evelyn wasted no time working on next year's gifts, already knitting new pairs.
