Pittsburg Approves Surveillance Cameras On Highway 4 After Shootings
PITTSBURG (CBS SF) – Following a series of shootings along Highway 4, city officials in Pittsburg have unanimously approved the installation of surveillance cameras along the freeway.
The city's mayor and police chief are supporting the $100,000 plan to install the cameras, after six freeway shootings took place along a four-mile stretch of Highway 4 in less than a year, including last week's fatal shooting.

Shanique Marie, a 25-year-old mother of four, was killed when a gunman opened fire on her and her boyfriend around 11:00 a.m. last Wednesday on Highway 4 near Railroad Avenue. Marie's boyfriend was critically injured in the shooting and police said the couple had been targeted.
Four to six cameras are expected to be placed on property next to the freeway. The city already has about 100 surveillance cameras stationed throughout the city.
