Pinole Check-Cashing Store Robbed At Gunpoint
PINOLE (CBS SF) -- Police were attempting to locate two men who robbed a check-cashing store in Pinole at gunpoint on Monday.
Officers were alerted to the robbery via a silent alarm at the Check 'N Go store at 1578 Fitzgerald Drive around 3:20 p.m., police said.
As officers headed to the scene, dispatchers received a 911 call from an employee at the check-cashing store reporting that they had been robbed at gunpoint.
The suspects fled the scene before officers could arrive.
Police said officers learned that two men entered the store. One of the men reportedly asked about taking out a loan and pulled out a silver revolver, according to police.
Meanwhile, the second suspect walked behind the counter and emptied the cash drawer, snatching an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspects exited the store and were last seen heading north, police said.
Police said both suspects are described as black men between 26 and 30 years old with short black hair.
The suspect with the handgun was described as being about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing roughly 180 pounds and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.
The second suspect was described as standing roughly 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 190 pounds and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans, police said.
A similar armed robbery involving two male suspects was reported at a Check 'N Go store in Pleasant Hill late last month.
Anyone with information about Monday's robbery is asked to call police at (510) 724-8950.
