Pinewood Of Los Altos Hills Wins Girls Division V State Title
SACRAMENTO (AP) -- Hailie Eackles had 31 points and nine rebounds to lead Pinewood of Los Altos Hills past St. Bernard of Playa del Rey, 67-56, and help give the Panthers the California girls' Division V championship at Power Balance Pavilion Friday.
Miranda Seto scored 21 points for Pinewood (28-5), which won its fifth state title and second in a row.
Lajahna Drummer had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for St. Bernard (24-15), which won three California championships in the 1990s. Kacy Swain also had a double-double with 13 and 10, and Destini French added 10 points.
The Panthers broke open a close game with a 14-3 run at the end of the second quarter, and led by as many as 16 before settling for the final 11-point margin.
