Phil Matier: Struggling Caltrain Reports Record Ridership
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Earlier this year, Caltrain said it was considering drastically scaling back service. But in just a few months, the struggling transit agency is now reporting near record ridership.
They're still going to need a lot of money to keep those trains running on time for commuters," said KCBS and Chronicle Insider Phil Matier.
An interesting point is how ridership actually increased while Caltrain fares also went up.
KCBS and Chronicle Insider Phil Matier:
"Sometimes things fall up and they got a lucky break on this," Matier said.
Matier added that this suggests that the public likes this service and that trains will continue to keep on rolling.
