Phil Matier: Sacramento's Mayor Creates Dream Team In Hopes Of Keeping Kings
SACRAMENTO (KCBS) - The "dream team" that Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson hopes can come up with enough cash to buy the Kings NBA franchise and keep them in Sacramento is starting to take shape.
According to a report published Tuesday in the Sacramento Bee, the founder of "24 Hour Fitness," Mark Mastrov, has met with the mayor and expressed interest in helping purchase the team.
Another potential member of the "dream team" is reportedly billionaire Ron Burkl.
Burkl and Mastrov are reportedly interested in partnering and building a new downtown stadium for the NBA team.
Johnson, himself a former NBA star, calls his meetings with the men "another positive step" to save the Kings.

The Maloof Family, which has controlling ownership in the team, reportedly has a binding agreement to sell their part of the franchise to a Seattle group lead by hedge fund manager Chris Hansen for a reported price of $341 million.
