Phil Matier: Jerry Brown Gains Double Digit Lead
(KCBS) - A recent survey shows Attorney General Jerry Brown with a double digit lead over opponent Republican Meg Whitman.
And Brown has raised more than $28 million in his gubernatorial bid, far outstripping the $19 million donors have poured into Whitman's campaign.
But the billionaire businesswoman broke the record for self-spending, spending $119 million of her own money to convince Californians she should replace Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
KCBS and Chronicle Insider Phil Matier said Meg Whitman's deep pockets might not protect the former eBay CEO from overexposure, a sort of voter fatigue that might explain Brown's final surge with pollsters.
