Phil Matier: 49ers A Game Away From Super Bowl Glory
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— After a hard fought victory against the New Orleans Saints this past Saturday, San Francisco's 49ers are getting ready to face off against the New York Giants, where the winner will go on to the Superbowl.
KCBS, CBS 5 and San Francisco Chronicle Insider Phil Matier said you can expect a lot of fanfare around the city leading up to this Sunday's game at Candlestick Park.
"Grabbing tickets will be no easy task. They go on sale Wednesday first to season ticket holders and then to the general public," said Matier, who added that there will be a mad scramble between ticket agencies and scalpers.
KCBS and Chronicle Insider:
San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee even made an interesting bet with New York's Mayor Bloomberg.
Rather than the usual swapping of salamis and wines, Lee was jokingly said to have asked for a ride on Bloomberg's alleged private jet with a ride to the golf course of his choosing, but if the Giants prevail, Lee offered the rival mayor a ride on Muni as his concession.
The city will be taking additional precautions, checking that everything is in order after suffering an embarrassing power-outage at Candlestick Park that left a crucial game in the dark.
"Win or lose it's probably going to be a pretty wild night in San Francisco," Matier said.
