PG&E Worker Injured By Electrical Flash Repairing Transformer In SF Bayview
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A Pacific Gas and Electric employee received minor injuries Sunday afternoon when a piece of equipment failed during repairs to a transformer in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood, a utility spokeswoman said.
The equipment failure occurred around 3:19 p.m. near 39 Bertha Lane, causing an electrical flash, PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said.
The flash injured an employee, damaged equipment and caused a power outage affecting the surrounding area.
The employee sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The power outage initially affected around 2,600 customers, but that number was down to less than 50 by Sunday evening, Morris said. PG&E hoped to have power restored for the remaining customers by midnight.
