PG&E Gets New Video For San Bruno Explosion Investigation
(KCBS) - PG&E now has 360 images from inside the natural gas pipeline that exploded under a San Bruno neighborhood last month and that video will be reviewed by multiple agencies investigating that explosion.
Using a tethered camera operating from a remote location, PG&E spent a week and a half taking pictures of the section of pipeline that exploded on September 9th.
"Because there's no gas in the lines we were able to access it at various locations," said Matt Nauman with PG&E.
KCBS' Melissa Culross Reports:
Nauman said the video was requested by the California Public Utilities Commission and completed on Friday. As for the future of the gas pipeline, Nauman says PG&E has not addressed that question yet, as the utility's focus right now is twofold for the investigation itself and to help San Bruno rebuild and figure out what to do in the future.
The video information will be reviewed by the CPUC, the National Transportation Safety Board and San Bruno officials.
