400 cars will be on display and there will be drag races and a cruise down Petaluma Blvd. in honor of the film.
Classic Car Show Celebrates 40 Years of American Graffiti
"Everybody can relate to what it was like, high school, cars, cruisin', all of that stuff 40 years ago," said one classic car enthusiast who is participating in the show. "It'll give you goosebumps, it really will."
This is actually the 8th annual Petaluma's Salute to American Graffiti, though the 2013 event takes on special significance because of the 40-year mark since American Graffiti came out in theaters.
The show runs 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, and 8:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Entry is free.
