Petaluma Kmart Workers Help Police Arrest Shoplifter
PETALUMA (BCN) - A duo suspected of filching electronics repeatedly from a Kmart in Petaluma was arrested Friday night after store employees trailed the alleged thieves, police said.
About 8:30 p.m., employees at the Kmart located at 261 North McDowell Blvd. recognized a man who entered the store as the one responsible for several thefts of electronics from the store over the past week, according to police.
Employees watched as 32-year-old Jeremy Ladeau, of Petaluma, walked out the store's side exit without paying for the flat screen television he was carrying, police said.
Ladeau got into a vehicle waiting for him by the exit and fled the scene, but employees were close behind and followed Ladeau to a nearby gas station.
Petaluma police caught up with Ladeau and 23-year-old Amber Marcott, of Santa Rosa, at the gas station and arrested the pair on suspicion of commercial burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen property and committing crimes while out on bail.
Both suspects were booked at Sonoma County jail on $10,000 bail.
