Pedestrian Killed On Interstate 580 In Pleasanton
PLEASANTON (CBS SF) - A pedestrian was fatally struck on eastbound Interstate Highway 580 in Pleasanton this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at 6:22 a.m. on Highway 580 just west of Santa Rita Road, CHP Officer Marc Johnston said.
The pedestrian was struck while crossing from the right hand shoulder of the highway to the center divide, Johnston said.
The pedestrian's identity was not yet being released by the Alameda County coroner's bureau.
All eastbound lanes of the highway were briefly blocked following the crash. The three right lanes were reopened around 7 a.m., and the remaining lanes were reopened by about 9 a.m., according to the CHP.
