Pedestrian dies after crash involving on-duty San Francisco police officer, police say
SAN FRANCISCO – A pedestrian died after a crash involving an on-duty police officer in San Francisco Saturday morning, authorities said.
The San Francisco Police Department said it responded to a vehicle collision involving an on-duty San Francisco police officer and a man near Bayshore Boulevard and Industrial Street around 6:20 a.m.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital where he later died, police said. His identification has not been released.
The officer did not report injuries.
The crash happened about five minutes after San Francisco's first-ever tornado warning expired.
Police did not release any details about what led up to the crash, including if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk.
The crash remains under investigation.
