Oakland Police Seek Driver In Hit-And-Run That Left Man In Critical Condition
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Oakland police officers were searching Wednesday for driver who struck a pedestrian at 7th Street and Webster Street during the morning commute.
Authorities said the incident took place around 5:57 a.m. near the Webster St. Tube coming out of Alameda in Oakland's Chinatown neighborhood.
Arriving officers located a man in his 50s down in the roadway suffering from critical injuries. Police said the victim was hit while walking along the crosswalk at 7th and Webster Streets.
According to witnesses, the man was dragged by the suspect vehicle for several feet before he was left in the road.
Oakland Fire Department personnel and Falck ambulance crew responded to the scene and provided medical treatment. The victim was transported to a local hospital.
No description of the vehicle has been released. Oakland police are currently looking for surveillance video in the area to assist with finding the suspect. "We are looking for an individual connected to this accident. We are looking for a newer model pickup truck with Dually wheels," said Felicia Aisthorpe with OPD.
