Paul McCartney Concert To Draw The Curtain On Candlestick Park
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Nearly 50,000 people are expected for the final public event at Candlestick Park Thursday night, a concert by Sir Paul McCartney as part of his "Out There" tour.
The 44-year-old stadium, which served as the home for the San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers for decades, was also the site of the Beatles last concert in 1966.

"I was here in 66, and I'm here today," said Donna Barnes, who will be working the ticket booth at Candlestick Thursday night, and recalled the frenzy at the Beatles' show. "Everybody was screaming. There were no quiet people in the stadium."
The '66 show was ended after only 11 songs and about 30 minutes. This time, McCartney plans to go over three hours. "Everything is not only big, but quality," said Gregg Perloff of Another Planet Entertainment. "He recognizes the historic moment of this show."
It's a sentiment echoed by just about everyone at The 'Stick Thursday. "No more concerts here. No more football games, no more baseball. It's just gonna be, gone," said Barnes.
Candlestick Park will be demolished to make way for a 1.1 million-square-foot development project.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency has announced special Muni service for tonight's concert at Candlestick Park.
The special service will include lines from the Balboa Park BART station to Candlestick Park, the Embarcadero station to Gilman Avenue and Third Street and Gilman Avenue and Third Street to Candlestick Park.
The special service will run from 4:30 p.m. until the end of the concert. The concert is expected to start around 8 p.m. and be over by 11:30 p.m.
The SFMTA is also reminding concertgoers the last BART train toward the East Bay will leave the Balboa Park station at 12:12 a.m.
The last train toward Millbrae will leave the Balboa Park station at 12:45 a.m.
