Part Of San Francisco's Market Street Closed For Weekend Repaving
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Intersections will be blocked and Muni buses rerouted this weekend while curb lanes are repaved on Market Street between Fourth and Sixth streets, according to city officials.
Repaving work started at 7 p.m. Friday and should be completed by Sunday, Department of Public Works spokeswoman Rachel Gordon said.
The project will improve the curb lanes and provide a smoother ride for bicyclists and motorists.
No bicycles, automobiles, taxis and trucks will be allowed on Market in the affected area during the project, and there will be restricted or blocked vehicle crossings at intersections during construction. Only the intersection of Sixth and Market will remain open throughout the project, Gordon said.
Pedestrian access to sidewalks and intersections will continue during the project, and Muni's F-line train and buses will continue to run in the center lanes of Market. All boarding and drop-offs will be moved to the center lane.
However, Muni bus lines that cross Fifth Street will be detoured for at least part of the project, including the 27 Bryant, the 31 Balboa, the 30 Stockton and 45 Union/Stockton, the 8X Bayshore Express and the 91 Owl.
