Parolee Allegedly Assaults Girlfriend In Belmont, Fights With Officers
BELMONT (CBS SF) - A Belmont man was arrested early Monday morning after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in their home and prevented her from calling police for nearly six hours, police said.
At about 6 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call from a 26-year-old woman who said she had been assaulted by her boyfriend in their home in the 1000 block of Old County Road, according to Belmont police.
The assault took place at around midnight, and the suspect—later identified as 29-year-old Muhammad Magbool—had prevented the victim from leaving their home or calling for help, police said.
Magbool apparently went outside early Monday morning, and the victim was able to call police.
Officers responded and found Magbool in front of the home, police said.
The suspect was uncooperative and fought with officers, who requested backup assistance from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
Officers were eventually able to subdue Magbool, who allegedly kicked out the window of a Belmont police patrol car during his arrest, police said.
The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
No officers were injured during the incident.
Magbool, who was on parole for a robbery conviction, was booked into San Mateo County Jail for domestic violence assault, false imprisonment, resisting arrest, vandalism and violating parole.
