Paroled High Risk Sex Offender Forced Out Of Rohnert Park

ROHNERT PARK (CBS SF) – A high-risk sex offender paroled in Sonoma County has been forced to move out a Rohnert Park motel where state correction officials had placed him, authorities announced Tuesday.

The Rohnert Park Police Department issued a statement saying the motel was not aware Jonathan Michael Hoppner was staying at their facility.

"He had not registered as a guest there," the statement read.

The police said Hoppner had been moved out of Rohnert Park and a new location to house him would be found in a rural area of the county.

Rohnert Park is the second Sonoma County city to refuse to house Hoppner.

Last week, the state corrections officials informed Petaluma Police that because of local concerns a hotel there had refused to allow Hoppner to check in.

CDCR public information officer Krissi Khokhobashvili said Hoppner must remain in Sonoma County as a transient until a new residence is found, and he will then have five days to register there as a sex offender.

Hoppner was incarcerated on charges of annoying or molesting a child under age 18 and sexual battery, and his past victims included women between 15 and 50 years old, police said.
