Palo Alto Woman Walks In On Home Burglary; 2 Arrested
PALO ALTO (CBS SF) - Police arrested two suspected burglars on Thursday after a woman interrupted a robbery at her home, police said.
The woman returned to her house at 9 a.m. and saw a man walking down a walkway near her front door.
She heard banging coming from her garage, and when she went to look, she saw the man riding away on her bicycle.
The woman called police, who shortly found the man in the parking lot of the Keys School. The woman's bicycle was returned to her.
The man arrested by police was 35-year-old Daly City resident Jimmy Leonard. Police discovered he had rented a room at the Glass Slipper Motel, near the Keys School.
When they visited the motel room, police found a woman there and several other pieces of stolen property including a bicycle stolen from an apartment on College Avenue and a laptop stolen from Menlo Park on Wednesday.
Police also arrested the woman, identified as 34-year-old Sandra Ann Lopez of Daly City, because she had an outstanding warrant in San Mateo County for burglary, theft and unlawful use of a credit card.
Leonardo was booked into the San Jose jail for petty theft, two counts of stolen property, and because he had a domestic violence restraining order against Lopez.
Lopez was booked into the jail as well for the outstanding warrant and possession of stolen property.
