Palo Alto School Burglarized 3rd Time In 1 Month
PALO ALTO - (KCBS) – A recent string of school burglaries has robbed Palo Alto campuses of valuable electronics during the summer recess. One elementary school has been targeted for multiple break-ins.
Palo Alto's Duveneck Elementary has been struck three of the past four weeks. The most recent break-in happened on Sunday when the suspects entered a classroom by simply removing the boards that covered up the window that had been smashed in a theft two weeks ago.
This time, the crooks only made off with a few hundred dollars worth of digital cameras. The earlier thefts at Duveneck included $6,000 worth of cameras on July 8th, and $23,000 worth of equipment on July 25th.
KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:
Police said the break-ins were part of a recent series of burglaries at Palo Alto schools also affecting at Gunn and Palo Alto High Schools and Jordan Middle School.
Last week two 18-year-olds from East Palo Alto were arrested in connection with the Gunn thefts, but the suspects are still outstanding in the other school burglaries.
