Palo Alto Market Robbed At Gunpoint
PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- A Palo Alto market was robbed by an armed man Saturday night, according to police.
The robbery at Valencia Market at 3487 El Camino Real was reported around 8:40 p.m., according to police.
The suspect pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the market's two proprietors and demanded cash.
The victims complied and the suspect fled south on El Camino Real, police said. He may have driven away in a new, shiny black vehicle parked in the alley behind the business, which was seen speeding away from the area.
There were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery.
Police searched the area, but could not locate the suspect. He was described as a Hispanic male in his 40s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and around 220 pounds. He was wearing a light blue button-down long-sleeved shirt with dark blue jeans and a plain black baseball cap.
The former market at the same location was robbed in June 2011, and no arrest was ever made in that case. The descriptions of the suspects differ, but police are investigation any possible connections, among other leads.
Anyone with information on this robbery or the suspect was asked to call (650) 329-2413, or email to paloalto@tipnow.org or text or voice mail to (650) 383-8984.
