Man Stabbed In Palo Alto Parking Lot In Apparent Hate Crime
PALO ALTO (CBS SF) – Police in Palo Alto are searching for three men suspected of accosting and stabbing in an apparent hate crime earlier this week.
Police say the victim, described as a Hispanic man in his late teens, was walking to his vehicle in the parking garage located at 445 Bryant Street around 7:45 p.m.
According to police, the three men made disparaging marks about his ethnicity as he was walking to his car. After a brief verbal exchange, the victim was stabbed in the thigh with a screwdriver by one of the men. All three suspects left the scene.
Following the incident, police said the victim drove himself to the hospital, where he was treated for a moderate puncture wound. The victim has been released.
Authorities describe all three suspects as white males in their mid-twenties. The first suspect had a beard and a thin build, while the second suspect was clean shaven and wore a black t-shirt and peach colored shorts. Police said the third suspect was thin, clean shaven and wore a Stanford cap during the incident.
The incident is being investigated by Palo Alto police as a hate crime.
