Overturned Big Rig Blocks Highway 92/101 Traffic In San Mateo
SAN MATEO (CBS SF) - A connector ramp from westbound state Highway 92 to southbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Mateo reopened late Tuesday morning after big-rig crash forced a six-hour closure, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The truck overturned at about 5:30 a.m. and spilled a load of scrap metal and two recycled vehicles onto the connector ramp and the two right lanes of Highway 101, CHP Officer Art Montiel said.
No one was injured, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, Montiel said.
Speed may have been a factor in causing the truck's load to shift and the vehicle to overturn, Montiel said.
Scraps of metal littered the roadway, and there was a lengthy cleanup effort that forced the closure of the ramp until 11:30 a.m.
