Overnight Crash Into Pole Knocks Out Power In Petaluma
PETALUMA (CBS SF) -- An overnight traffic accident in Petaluma has left 138 customers without power Saturday morning.
Petaluma police report that a 24-year-old driver traveling westbound on Mountain View Avenue struck a power pole and fire hydrant at Mountain View Avenue and Fairview Terrace just after 1 a.m.
Power lines were damaged and crews Saturday were working to replace the pole and multiple spans of wire that have come down, according to PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris.
Mountain View Avenue between Olive Street and Grant Avenue remains closed while crews complete their work, according to police.
Power should be restored to customers by 6 p.m., Morris said.
Police said the driver suffered minor injuries. The Petaluma resident was interviewed and released at the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to police.
