Oracle Catamaran Brought Back To Shore After Capsizing On Bay
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A 72-foot Oracle Team USA catamaran that capsized Tuesday afternoon in San Francisco Bay was brought ashore early Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The boat arrived at San Francisco's Pier 80 about 12:43 a.m., according to the U.S. Coast Guard, which stood by as a safety precaution as the Oracle crew worked to get the boat to shore.
The vessel overturned during training exercises for the America's Cup racing event Tuesday afternoon, causing some of the crew to fall into the water with the rest quickly jumping in as well, afraid the boat's wing would snap.
The boat flipped near the San Francisco Yacht Club, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Teams went out in safety boats to try and upright the vessel, but building winds and strong currents damaged the wing, and the boat was starting to be carried out to sea, race officials said.
The wing was destroyed and by nightfall the crews were still working to bring the vessel back to shore.
No one was injured when the boat capsized, race officials said.
