Optimistic Giants Fans Buying Up World Series Tickets

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - San Francisco Giants fans are not only gobbling up tickets for the two remaining home NLCS playoff games, but many have already bullishly started purchasing tickets for the four potential World Series games that would be held in San Francisco, according to the world's largest online ticket marketer.

A spokesperson for StubHub, which is owned by eBay, told CBSSanFrancisco.com on Wednesday that Giants fans were paying an average $702 per ticket for World Series games – suggesting that some of the Giants faithful are already looking ahead to a World Series showdown. Interestingly, Philadelphia Phillies fans are paying even more – an average of $769 per ticket – for potential World Series games.

StubHub said the top searches on their site over the last 24 hours were for Giants World Series tickets and Texas Rangers World Series tickets, suggesting fans of the ALCS-leading Rangers are also bullish on their team's chances.

Of course, fans who buy those advance World Series tickets would see that money refunded if their team doesn't advance or the games are never played, StubHub said.

Meantime, for those Giants fans still looking for tickets for NLCS Game 4 on Tuesday night, StubHub said at least 2,200 game tickets were still available online as of Wednesday morning, at an average price of $215.

StubHub indicated that more than 4,600 tickets for Wednesday night's Game 5 were also still available on their site, with an average ticket price of $202.
