Opponents Of 'Six Californias' Proposal Allege Voter Fraud By Signature Collectors, File Complaint
SACARAMENTO (CBS SF) -- A push to split California into six states may be over before it begins, after opponents of the ballot measure filed a voter fraud complaint with the state on Thursday.
In the complaint, the One California committee alleges people gathering signatures for the measure may have misled voters about the initiative's intent.
Earlier this week, Silicon Valley billionaire Tim Draper submitted more than a million signatures to put his "Six Californias" plan on the ballot in 2016.
He insists the signatures were collected fairly.

Under the plan, much of the Bay Area, Santa Cruz and Monterey would become the state of Silicon Valley. Some counties in the North Bay would join Sacramento and part of the Sierra as the state of "North California."
If approved by voters, splitting the state would still require approval by Congress.
