Operation Ceasefire Arrest Leads To High-Powered Guns, Drugs, Cash In Oakland
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An Operation Ceasefire arrest led to the seizure of fully automatic high-powered rifles, semi-automatic handguns, high-capacity magazines, marijuana and $7,000 in cash on Friday in Oakland, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.
About 10 p.m. on Friday, CHP officers stopped a vehicle traveling on Foothill Boulevard near Seminary Avenue in Oakland as part of an Operation Ceasefire assignment, according to CHP Officer San Morgan.
CHP officers stopped Dion Dontae Moses, 33, the driver of a 1992 Lexus SC 400, for a license plate violation. Officers determined that Moses was showing signs of impairment, according to Morgan.
While conducting their impaired driver investigation, CHP officers discovered that Moses was concealing a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the waistband of his pants.
A search of the vehicle also revealed a fully automatic high-powered rifle, several high-capacity magazines, body armor, marijuana and $1,000 in cash. Other items consistent with those used to commit other crimes were also located inside the vehicle, according to the CHP.
A search warrant was obtained for Moses' residence in San Ramon. Officers served the warrant and seized five fully automatic high-powered rifles, one semi-automatic handgun, and multiple high-capacity magazines containing over 1,000 rounds of ammunition, according to the CHP.
An undisclosed amount of cocaine and approximately $6,000 in cash were also discovered in Moses' residence and seized by the CHP.
Moses' bail was set at $410,000, according to the CHP.
