Oops... Newspapers Put Wrong Clinton On Front Pages After Hillary's Historic Nomination
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- When women woke up around the world Wednesday and read the headlines trumpeting Hillary Clinton's historic nomination, something was glaringly missing.
Her photo... from almost every... major... newspaper.
To make matters worse, many offending papers ran photos of Hillary's husband, Bill.
simple proof of enduring sexism: no Hillary, or even a woman, on the front page after 1st woman nominated president pic.twitter.com/FvkxDfOAJK

#HillaryClinton won historic presidential nomination. Newspaper photos of husband. #DNCinPHL https://t.co/hp8aRXbALX pic.twitter.com/kWZPjgPA47

Social media lit up. Was it sexism or was it just a late deadline?
After all, the Democratic National Convention wrapped up late Tuesday night, with Alicia Keys's performance going well into the midnight hour.
No excuse.
Editors know darn well to prepare front pages in advance for cases like these. Even a 'file photo' would have been better than a shot of Bill.

Said one writer for BuzzFeed, it would be like "putting the person who announced the Oscar winner on the front page instead of the Oscar winner."
People are calling out these newspapers for making the same huge error today: https://t.co/0aJ9RIBr0U pic.twitter.com/p5QW4yScPx

Actually it's worse.
No Oscar moment ever had such gravitas as the announcement of the first woman ever nominated to become the leader of the free world (apologies to anyone who disagrees). No Oscar winner has waited more than 250 years to attain such an honor. No Oscar winner has had to run the gauntlet of one of the most divisive, vicious, attack-ridden races to win his or her statuette ... ever.
just passed newspaper stand and came here to tweet this, why the fuck is BILL Clinton front page everywhere?!? pic.twitter.com/c6eoEvNYEe

Women are hopping mad and already people are telling them to calm down... stop being so emoooootional.
(Insert sound of this writer's head exploding here.)
For validation's sake, consider many men were upset, too.
So @HillaryClinton made history, yet American front pages chose a @billclinton photo https://t.co/KBOhArZ8sh pic.twitter.com/DlbqlX6ave

Foreign papers managed to get it right, even with the late deadline and the different time zone. Check out Sydney:

Le sigh.... Barely 24 hours and already we're forced to play the woman card... buckle up ladies, it's gonna be a long, long ride.
