OAKLAND -- An adult male victim was fatally shot and two other victims injured in an East Oakland triple shooting Thursday evening, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the 7900 block of Ney Avenue around 7 p.m. after receiving multiple ShotSpotter activations.

When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police learned that two additional injured people hurt in that shooting incident -- an adult male and an adult female -- transported themselves to Highland Hospital. Those two shooting victims were expected to survive their injuries, police said at a press conference Friday afternoon.

The identity of the victim who died at the scene is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

The incident was the second deadly shooting in the area Thursday evening as well as the second shooting in East Oakland in less than a week that injured or killed multiple victims. A male shooting victim was found injured on the 9000 block of MacArthur Blvd. at around 11 p.m. That victim also died at the scene, according to police.

On Saturday morning, police responded to the 1600 block of 83rd Avenue following a ShotSpotter activation in the area at around 9 a.m.

When police arrived, they found four people who suffered gunshot wounds, two of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. Earlier this week, Oakland Police Department officials confirmed that two suspects were arrested Monday in connection with the weekend quadruple shooting.

The two fatal shootings happened in the same general area of East Oakland, with the locations only about a five-minute drive away from each other. Anyone with information on either case is asked to contact homicide detectives at (510) 238-3821 or the tip line at (510) 238-7950. People can also submit videos or photos that could assist with the investigation to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov.
