Olympic Swimmer Phelps To Debut At Tahoe Celebrity Golf
RENO, Nev. (CBS/AP) -- Michael Phelps, the Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer turned Hank Haney's latest project, is taking his golf game to the next level - in the high Sierra on the shores of Lake Tahoe.
Phelps plans to make his debut at the 24th annual American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course July 19-21.
Other newcomers include San Diego Charges tight end Antonia Gates, Denver Broncos coach John Fox, Golden State Warriors forward David Lee and NASCAR's Michael Waltrip.
Phelps won a record 18 gold medals before retiring after the 2012 London Games. Since then he's played in pro-ams at the Ryder Cup and the Phoenix Open. He currently stars on Golf Channel's "The Hank Haney Project," getting lessons from Tiger Woods' former instructor.
