Officers Identify Victim Of Fatal Oakland Stabbing
OAKLAND (CBS SF)- A man fatally stabbed in West Oakland on Wednesday has been identified by police as 49-year-old Marty Harris.
Harris, an Oakland resident, was found by officers who responded at about 6:50 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a man down near the intersection of Wood Street and West Grand Avenue, police Officer Holly Joshi said.
Harris was suffering from apparent stab wounds and was taken to Highland Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries later that morning, Joshi said.
No arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing and no suspect information was available as of Friday, she said.
The homicide was Oakland's 45th of 2011. Last year at the same date, there had been 34 murders, according to Joshi.
Crime Stoppers and police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
Anyone with information on the killing is asked to call the Police Department's homicide unit at (510) 238-3821.
