Occupy SF Protesters Ignore Deadline To Move
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Occupy SF protesters faced an 8:00 a.m. deadline Wednesday to move from their encampment at the foot of Market St. to a vacant school in the Mission District.
Tuesday night, the group's general assembly rejected the city's offer to relocate to the new site. However, some members of the group may make that move anyway. They could leave Justin Herman Plaza as early as Wednesday morning.
KCBS' Holly Quan Reports:
"To me it's not a movement from Justin Herman, but instead a growth, which is what we're all about," said occupier David Halenda.
Halenda said that they aim to expand the movement's message to the community in the Mission District.
Occupiers who do move would have to sign a contract and adhere to a list of conditions, including keeping the site clean and alcohol-free. Minors would also not be allowed, neither would stoves. Protesters would have to leave by the end of June.
