Oakley Man Dies In Indonesia Plane Crash
OAKLEY (CBS / AP) -- The wife of an Oakley man says her husband is among the dozens presumed dead after a Russian-made plane crashed into a volcano in Indonesia during a demonstration flight.
Randi Adler said her husband, Peter, was due back on Friday, a day ahead of their son's 18th birthday celebration. She is now working to recover his body.
Adler was among 45 people -- and apparently the only American -- aboard the new Sukhoi Superjet-100 plane that crashed on Wednesday. All 45 are presumed dead. Rescuers were able to land helicopters at the site on Saturday and begin removing remains, but have not yet found the plane's black box recorder.
The flight was mostly carrying representatives from Indonesian airlines. Adler says her husband collected and delivered planes for corporate customers and ensured they were technically sound.
