Oakland: Several Hurt In Overnight Gun Violence, Including 2 Children
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A spate of gunfire throughout Oakland overnight left several victims injured, just hours after a fatal shooting earlier Friday night, an Oakland police officer said. Two victims were children.
A 45-year-old man was killed in a shooting in the 700 block of Sycamore Street that was reported around 8 p.m. Friday, police said.
The man, identified as Otis Lee Key was found there suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A 7-year-old boy child suffered a graze wound in the shooting and was transported to a separate hospital in stable condition, according to police.
Besides the boy and Key, several cars on the street were hit by gunfire but no one else was reported injured.
Later in the evening, a robbery turned into a shooting around 11:05 p.m. Friday night in the 3500 block of Salisbury Avenue, Officer Kevin McDonald said.
One victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound, McDonald said.
Four suspects, at least one of whom was armed, were involved in the gunfire, he said.
Early Saturday morning an East Oakland double shooting injured two people, one of whom refused to be treated for injuries. The other victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition, McDonald said.
That shooting was reported at 12:45 a.m. in the 1500 block of 80th Avenue, McDonald said.
Two suspects were believed to have shot at those victims.
Just seven minutes later, another shooting was reported in the 5300 block of Foothill Boulevard, McDonald said.
One victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound.
The 12-year-old girl was hit by one of several bullets fired into her home in the 2300 block of Church Street about 3:39 a.m. Saturday. Police did not say where she was wounded.
She was in stable condition at a hospital. No one else inside the house was hurt. Police do not have a motive.
No suspects were taken into custody for any of the overnight shootings, the officer said.
