OAKLAND (CBS SF) - A police lieutenant suffered minor injuries when he was struck by a car in Oakland late Wednesday night, police said.

The lieutenant was hit as he was crossing the street in a crosswalk in the 600 block of Washington Street, near Oakland police headquarters.

Police said the vehicle was turning onto westbound Sixth Street when the collision happened, and that the driver fled the scene afterward.
