Oakland Police Chase Ends With Crash, 2 Burglary Suspects Arrested
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Burglary suspects who led police on a chase Wednesday were arrested after crashing at an East Oakland intersection, according to police.
Around 8:55 a.m., officers in the 8400 block of Edgewater Drive spotted a suspect vehicle linked to multiple burglaries in recent months, police Officer J. Moore said.
The officers tried to stop the car, but it sped away, leading police on a chase.
The pursuit ended a short time later when the suspect vehicle crashed into a fixed object at the intersection of 98th and Edes avenues, he said.
Police arrested the driver and a passenger in the car on suspicion of burglary.
The crash shut down northbound traffic at the intersection, which was expected to clear around 1 p.m., according to police.
Moore said San Leandro police officers pursued the same suspect vehicle earlier in the week but were unable to stop the suspects.
