Oakland officer shoots suspect during chase; 1 arrested
An Oakland officer shot and injured a shooting suspect early Saturday morning during a brief chase, police said.
Oakland police said an officer in the 6300 block of MacArthur Boulevard heard a gunshot just after 5 a.m.
When he went to investigate, he found someone who was armed with a gun.
A brief chase ensued, and Oakland police said the officer shot the person during the chase.
The person then ran into a nearby apartment building and barricaded himself. Police were able to arrest him and said they recovered a gun.
Oakland police did not say what prompted the officer to shoot during the chase.
Police said the officer was not injured.
