Oakland Man Killed In MLK Day Shooting Identified

OAKLAND (BCN) -- Oakland police have identified a man who was shot and killed in East Oakland on Monday afternoon.

Derek-Wilfredo Angel-Rodriguez, 18, of Oakland was shot in front of a bus stop at 80th Avenue and International Boulevard just before 4 p.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, police spokeswoman Holly Joshi said.

He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at a local hospital, police said.

No arrests have been made in the case, Joshi said.

Three other people were injured in two shooting incidents on the same day, according to police.

A man was shot at 14th Avenue and East 27th Street about an hour after Angel-Rodriguez was gunned down.

Later, two other people were shot in the 5700 block of East 17th Street.

All three surviving victims were taken to hospitals and listed in stable condition.
