Oakland Man Charged With Robbing Store 3 Times In A Month
OAKLAND (CBS / AP) -- Police said an Oakland man has been charged with robbing or trying to rob the same supermarket three times in one month.
The Oakland Tribune reported that 22-year-old Christopher Banks was arrested Sunday after he allegedly tried to hold up a cashier at the Safeway store with a knife. Employees and customers chased, tackled and held him until police arrived.
Officer Nick Calonge told the Tribune that Banks admitted to not only the attempted heist, but two successful robberies at the same store last month.
Calonge said the suspect did not say why he kept returning there.
Alameda County prosecutors charged Banks with three counts of armed robbery and two counts of attempted armed robbery on Thursday.
He remains jailed on $450,000 bail.
