Oakland Man Arrested In Violent SF Mugging Caught On Tape
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)—San Francisco police have arrested an Oakland man in connection with the brutal robbery and assault that was caught on tape during gay pride weekend.
Police announced in press release Wednesday morning that 23-year old Christopher Porter-Bailey was arrested on July 26 in connection with the assault of a 28-year-old woman on Market Street between Buchanan and Laguna on June 30 at about 1:50 a.m.
Officials said the woman was robbed of her purse by a group of suspects while walking on the sidewalk.
Police released a video captured by a surveillance camera that showed the attack. The video showed the victim as she was knocked to the pavement and then kicked her in the head by one of the suspects so violently that she lost consciousness.
Porter-Bailey has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault and battery likely to produce serious injury. He remained in custody Wednesday.
Authorities want to know whether Porter-Bailey and his companions are the same suspects who committed other robberies and assaults on June 30 on Market Street between the Civic Center and Castro Street.
