Oakland High School Student Shot Near Campus
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An Oakland high school was on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a student was shot nearby, a school district spokesman said.
The shooting was reported near the corner of Park and MacArthur boulevards shortly before 3:30 p.m., according to police.
Police said an 18-year-old male was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital.
Oakland High School, located at 1023 MacArthur Blvd., was locked down around 3:30 p.m. and the lockdown was lifted about a half hour later, Oakland Unified School District spokesman Troy Flint said.
Flint said the teen who was shot was a student of the high school.
As of 4:15 p.m., Flint said, "we don't know anything about the suspects or the circumstances" surrounding the shooting.
