Oakland Father Arrested In Death Of 4-Month-Old Son
OAKLAND (AP) -- A 26-year-old Oakland father has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police say fatal injuries to his infant son were consistent with him having been suffocated.
The Oakland Tribune reported William Thunderhawk was booked Wednesday at North County Jail in the death of his 4-month-old son, Wambli. He died Sunday at Children's Hospital Oakland, a week after being admitted with what hospital personnel called visible injuries.
Oakland police Sgt. Mike Gantt tells the Tribune that an autopsy performed Monday found Wambli had injuries consistent with suffocation, as well as three fractured ribs.
The autopsy report indicated the injuries to the boy could have occurred as recently as the day he was taken to the hospital, or as far back as a week prior.
