Winners Of $400M Mega Millions Jackpot Outside California, $1.9M Ticket Sold In San Bruno
SAN BRUNO (CBS / AP) -- The holders of two winning tickets sold outside California will split Tuesday's estimated $400 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot. Meanwhile, a ticket matching five numbers worth $1.9 million was sold in the Bay Area, according to the California Lottery.
Lottery officials said a ticket purchased in Maryland and another in Florida match all six numbers drawn in Tuesday night's drawing.
Officials told KPIX 5 the ticket that matched five numbers was sold at Huntington Liquor in San Bruno.
The winning numbers are: 11, 19, 24, 33 and 51 with a Mega Ball of 7.
Florida lottery officials say their winning ticket was sold at a Sunoco convenience store in Merritt Island. Information about the Maryland ticket wasn't immediately available.
The jackpot is the sixth-largest lottery prize in U.S. history, with a lump-sum option of $224 million.
Mega Millions changed its rules in October to help increase jackpots by lowering the odds of winning the top prize.
Mega Millions is played in 43 states including California, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
