Supreme Court Rejects NRA Efforts To Loosen San Francisco Gun Control Laws
WASHINGTON (KCBS) -- The National Rifle Association's effort to loosen gun restrictions in San Francisco has been rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The court let rulings stand in favor of a city measure that requires handgun owners to keep weapons secure either by storing them in lockers, by installing trigger locks or by keeping weapons with them.
A second ordinance bans the sale of ammunition that expands on impact, has "no sporting purpose" and is commonly referred to as hollow-point bullets.
Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas said they would have been willing to hear the appeal from the NRA and San Francisco gun owners.
