Novato Cop Hurt While Chasing PG&E Copper Theft Suspects
NOVATO (KCBS) – A Novato police officer was injured during a chase with two suspects believed to have been attempting to steal copper from a PG&E substation, according to police.
Around 3:00 a.m., a PG&E worker reported a break-in at the substation near Hamilton Drive and Bel Marin Keys Boulevard.
Two men cut a hole in fencing surrounding the facility. A PG&E worker saw them and called police.
Officers arrived at the scene and one got in a scuffle with one of the suspects. Both were injured. The officer was treated and released at the scene while the suspect was taken to a local hospital.
The second suspect was detained after a brief search of the area.
