Novato Boy Airlifted From Motorcycle Crash
NOVATO (KCBS) – An 11-year-old boy is recovering at Oakland Children's Hospital after he was airlifted from the scene of a motorcycle crash in Novato on Saturday afternoon.
Investigators said the crash happened at Hanna Ranch, an area with trails and small hills near Highways 101 and 37.
Novato Police Lieutenant Dave Jeffries said the boy was wearing a helmet and his parents were at the scene when the accident occurred.
"There were multiple motorcycles riding in this open space area," he said. "As one was apparently coming down a hill, another was coming from a trail that runs across the hill and the two motorcycles collided."
KCBS' Chris Filippi Reports:
Jeffries said the crash happened on private property, where trespassing has been a recurring problem.
"It's not an open area and different attempts have been made in the past, between no trespassing signs and moving rocks in front of the access points," said Jeffries. "Certainly, our officers, if they have time, try to go over there and get folks out of there."
The 11-year-old was airlifted to Oakland Children's Hospital, but there was no further word on his condition. The man who was driving the other motorcycle hurt his shoulder, but refused treatment.
