Wrong-way crash on Highway 85 in San Jose kills teen, woman
A woman and a 14-year-old boy were killed in a wrong-way crash in San Jose Monday, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to the CHP, they first received calls about a wrong-way driver on Highway 85 around 3:40 p.m. They were told the driver of a white Toyota Tacoma was driving in the wrong direction on northbound Highway 85, near Saratoga Avenue.
The crash happened minutes later at 3:50 p.m. on northbound Highway 85, south of Highway 87.
CHP said the truck was speeding when it crashed into a Tesla. A woman and a 14-year-old boy in the Tesla died.
The CHP identified the driver of the pick-up truck as 39-year-old Duncan McQuarrie. He was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
The CHP said McQuarrie was still hospitalized as of Tuesday and that they would be recommending the district attorney file a felony manslaughter charge.

On Wednesday, the woman killed in the crash was identified as 47-year-old Rebecca Olsen.
