North Bay Rescue Teams Join Search For Missing Lake County Girl
LAKE COUNTY (CBS SF) -- Bay Area law enforcement agencies are assisting in a search for a 12-year-old Lake County girl who has not been seen since Thursday morning, according to sheriff's officials.
Jenica Fredrick was last seen Thursday morning around 8 a.m. at her home in Cobb as she was getting ready for school, according to Lake County sheriff's Capt. Chris Macedo.
Investigators have since confirmed Fredrick never got on the bus or attended school on Thursday, Macedo said.
Teams have been searching the Cobb Mountain area since authorities were alerted to Fredrick's disappearance Thursday night.
Fredrick was described as being distraught and upset over a recent incident at home when she was last seen. Investigators have received an unsubstantiated report suggesting she might have been headed to the Lakeport area.
A number of Bay Area agencies are assisting in the search for Fredrick, including search and rescue teams from Mendocino, Marin, Sonoma, Solano and Napa counties.
Fredrick is described as a white female juvenile, approximately 4 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 116 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a green plaid jacket with a pink backpack.
Anyone who has seen her is asked to call the Lake County Sheriff's Office at (707) 263-2690.
